What we did
For this new loft conversion in Dulwich we supplied scaffolding with roof over protection. We removed the old roof and structure and fitted steel beams then altered and raised the front pitch. Next we rebuilt the side parapet wall.
We set about building the loft conversion as per drawings and fitted new Velux windows, bathroom window with sliding door and Juliet glass balcony.
Next stage was first and second fix plumbing and electrics and then ceilings, floors and walls were implemented as well as insulation.
After this stage we plastered walls and ceilings and fitted the new staircase to the top floor. We laid new herringbone flooring to the main room and completed all works to the en-suite bathroom.
We fitted fire rated doors to all rooms in the house to meet regulations.
We had to build new front bedroom walls to accommodate the first floor landing and stairs and also built two cupboards to both bedrooms.
We had previously engaged Thatcher Builders for extensive renovation work and the installation of a new kitchen in our Victorian home. Delighted with the quality of Ray and his team’s work, we opted to have them convert our loft as well. This turned out to be a fantastic decision, as we are thoroughly pleased with the transformation it has brought to our home’s usability and atmosphere. The project remained within budget, with any additional costs for extra requests being communicated upfront and kept reasonable. It’s also worth noting Ray’s calm and effective approach to problem-solving, which proved invaluable throughout the larger construction project.
